The Channel Cats are a house rocking blues band based in Colorado Springs which formed in October 2002. The Channel Cats repertoire includes a mix of both contemporary and traditional blues, swing, and R&B covers as well as many originals. The Channel Cats have opened for Sonny Rhodes, Debbie Davies, and Pinetop Perkins. Winners of The Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraphs’ 2005 “Best of Award”. This hard-working band performs over seventy shows per year. Any Channel Cats event can be summed up with one word, FUN!

Dale Creel, guitar and vocals. Dale grew up in Birmingham, Alabama in a music loving family where he was exposed to gospel, country, blues and rock ‘n’ roll from his first breath. Dale has played in several area blues bands including Casey Rush and the Raw Edge, and Up to No Good. Dale was the host and house band leader for the wildly successful Thursday night blues jam at The Navajo Hogan Roadhouse in Colorado Springs for 1 ½ years. Dale hasplayed with Buddy Whittington of John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Carl Dufrene, of The Tab Benoit Band, and Michael Daigeau of The Doc Severinson Band.

Jack Baker

Jack Baker, drums. Jack grew up a navy brat in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Jack’s influences include the infectious beat of Cuban music as well as big-band jazz and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Jack turned pro at the age of 16 and has drummed on several albums scoring regional hits in Southern California with the band Fusion. Jack spent 3 years on the road with various rock and show bands. Jack’s philosophy on drumming is simple, play simple, lay down the groove, and have fun!

Ed Liptak, tenor saxophone. Ed is well known among Colorado Springs blues players as he has played with almost all of them at one time or another. Ed started playing sax at the age of 10 and has established a solid reputation for extremely tasty fills and some of the most exciting and soulful solos on the local scene. Ed spent several years with the USC Jazz Ensemble. His hobbies include working on custom guitars.

John Wise

Mark Acord, bass and vocals. Almost a Colorado native, Mark Acord has played bass guitar for 30 years, and trumpet for four decades.   He is comfortable with all styles of music and has played classical, rock, jazz, blues and even polkas.  He teaches privately, specializing in trumpet and bass.  You’ve seen him with The Attitudes, Beauty and the Beast, Cadillac Jack, and CityFolk and when he lived in the Midwest, he was an Epic recording artist.
